Imaging & Camera Systems
Engineering behind camera-based medical devices.
ATL Medical integrates mechanical, optical, electrical, software-related, and interconnect elements for camera-based medical devices, from the distal tip through the shaft, handle, cable, connector, and processing interface. This capability is the engineering foundation for ATL's Scopes & Camera-Based Imaging market.
What this capability covers.
Chip-on-Tip® & distal assembly
Chip-on-Tip® assembly and micro-molded distal tips, with direct wire-to-sensor attachment.
PCBA & interconnect
Flex or rigid PCBA connectivity, fine-gauge micro-coax, and pigtail or locking connector options.
Illumination & interface
LED or fiber illumination, image and video capture interfaces, and display and graphical interface integration.
Technical depth.
What application types does this capability support?
Camera-based devices, traditional scopes, selected robot-assisted camera applications, intravascular imaging, and urological and pulmonary visualization devices. The specific scope depends on the device and program.
Does ATL Medical support single-use camera-based devices?
Yes. Healthcare providers are showing growing interest in single-use camera-based devices, driven by infection prevention, workflow efficiency, and device availability. ATL supports them from distal assembly through the complete device.
What video-processing capabilities does ATL Medical offer?
ATL Medical's visualization-system work (video processing, camera control, and image signal processing) includes video recording with still capture while recording; a time-stamped picture gallery with USB storage; onscreen rotation and full-screen adaptation; light, color, LED-brightness, sharpness, and automatic gain control; a customizable GUI with round, square, or hexagonal display shapes; HDMI and DVI outputs; and 10-inch or 13-inch touchscreen or no-monitor configurations. Feature sets are configured by program.
Which manufacturing processes support camera-based devices?
Chip-on-Tip® assembly, coax stripping, hot-bar soldering, image inspection, noise testing, PCB programming, and conformal coating, along with laser, ultrasonic, and RF welding, fine soldering, fiber-optic termination, and UV and solvent bonding.
